Emily A. York - author

Emily YorkEmily holds a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science and was an elementary school library media specialist for 18 years until her retirement. She is a seasonal resident of Gold Canyon, Arizona and a permanent resident of Middleton, Wisconsin.

Emily York met Dr. Stokrocki after coming to Gold Canyon. Stokrocki’s paintings of  desert animals  in “Lindsey’s Desert Surprise” book inspired York to write this story.

Mary StokrockiDr. Stokrocki is a Distinguished Professor of Art Education at Arizona State University. The degrees she holds are; D. Ed. Pennsylvania University, MS, Massachusetts College of Art, Boston, BS, SUNY - College at New Paltz, NY. She is President of (USSEA) the United States Soceity for Education through Art, Executive Secretary, and Webmaster (1994-present)

She has been teaching for 35 years; 10 years at the middle/high school level in New York and Boston; 5 of which she was Chair of the Art Department, and 23 years at the university level in Cleveland, Ohio and Tempe, Arizona. She has authored 7 books on art education and numerous articles and papers throughout her career.
